Braces Treatment

Braces treatment is one of the most common orthodontic methods used to correct crooked teeth, spacing issues, and bite problems. With this treatment, teeth are brought into their ideal positions, providing an aesthetically pleasing smile while also improving chewing function. It can be applied to a wide age range, from children to adults.

The treatment process usually begins with a detailed examination and X-rays. The structure of the teeth and jaws is evaluated, and an appropriate treatment plan is created. Brackets are then placed on the teeth and connected with wires. These wires are tightened at regular intervals to ensure that the teeth move in a controlled manner.

There are different bracket options available in braces treatment. Metal brackets are the most durable and economical choice. For those with aesthetic concerns, clear ceramic brackets or lingual brackets placed on the inner surfaces of the teeth can be preferred. In recent years, clear aligner treatments have also been used as an alternative to traditional braces.

The duration of treatment varies from person to person. In mild cases, treatment may take 1 to 1.5 years, while more advanced problems can extend up to 2–3 years. Regular check-ups and the patient’s compliance with the treatment directly affect its success. Paying attention to brace care and following the dentist’s recommendations help speed up the process.

Maintaining good oral hygiene during braces treatment is very important. Since wires and brackets can cause food particles to accumulate, teeth must be brushed regularly. Using dental floss and special orthodontic brushes helps prevent cavities and gum problems.

During the treatment, mild pain or pressure may be felt in the first few days and after wire adjustments. However, this is temporary and usually subsides quickly. Once the treatment is completed, retainers are used to maintain the new positions of the teeth, preventing them from shifting back to their previous alignment.

In conclusion, braces treatment is a method that delivers highly successful results both aesthetically and functionally. With regular follow-ups, proper care, and patience, it is possible to achieve a healthy and attractive smile.
